Get repairs right first time

THERE can be few things more frustratin­g than roadworks, but this can only be made worse when they are done badly (see page 6).

That Tayside Contracts are spending almost £13,000 every month just to fix roadworks which weren’t done properly is truly astonishin­g.

When roads are closed or restricted by works, drivers and pedestrian­s alike may find themselves annoyed to say the least.

But it’s infuriatin­g to think that the delays and diversions could all have been for nothing when it ends up being re-done.

Tayside Contracts say they often make provisions to fund any situation where they suspect that they may have to go back and re-do repairs.

While unexpected issues will always arise, perhaps they should make provisions to complete roadworks properly first time round.

It’s what the tax-paying public expect.
