Opportunity to improve digital skills on offer
THE charity Action on Hearing Loss Scotland is offering people in Perth the opportunity t o i mprove their digital skills at monthly drop-in sessions.
The one-to-one events will take place at the North Inch Community Campus, Gowans Terrace, with the first session set for Tuesday August 16 from 10am to noon.
There will also be dropins on September 13 and October 18, again from 10am to noon.
The drop-ins are a chance for people who have questions about their digital devices to be i nformed about technology that will meet their individual needs.
The service, called Online Today!, is funded by Big Lottery Fund Scotland and aims to train people with hearing loss on how to get the most from their tablets, smartphones and e-Readers.
Online Today! coordinator Michael Woodburn said: “Technology can help make everyone’s daily lives easier and more interesting, but if you’ve got sensory loss and don’t have the confidence or experience of new devices, knowing where to start isn’t always easy.
“We look forward to supporting Perth people with hearing loss to find out how their digital devices work and enable them to set up an online presence and stay connected with friends and family.”
PERTH and Kinross Association of Voluntary Service (PKAVS) carers hub i s l aunching a new initiative by Shared Care Scotland called Respitality.
The aim is to provide a form of respite for unpaid carers.
The idea is that organisations become Respitality par tners by making a “gift” which could include a day-pass to a leisure club or spa.
