Home triumph in Kinnoull tourney

KINNOULL won their own tournament with a late 3-2 win over Glenrothes in the Tulloch Park final.

Kinnoull beat Kirkcaldy YM 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw and Glenrothes defeated Oakley 1-0 to get to the final. Oakley were third after a 5-3 penalties win over Kirkcaldy following a 1-1 draw.

With just four minutes left in the final, Kinnoull were trailing 2-1. However, Rab Kinnaird and Mark Smith goals won it for the Perth team whose opening goal was from Kieran Donald. Mark Smith was named Player of the Tournament.

Jeanfield met Central Region side Largs Thistle at the Riverside Stadium and were a goal behind after 10 minutes, Robert Love the scorer. Swifts went 2-0 behind in 22 minutes when Gary Fleming crashed home a 30 yard shot.

Six minutes later, Swifts reduced the leeway with a goal from Christophe­r Scott. A Tony Holt penalty and Daniel Kelly goal put Swifs 3-2 ahead.

On the hour mark, Swifts’ Fraser Smith fired home a long range effort to make it 4-2, Steve McManus increased their lead to 5-2 in 68 minutes and goal No 6, in 75 minutes, was scored by Richard Donovan. Largs then scored a third.

Blairgowri­e lost 5-1 at home to Larkhall Thistle. The visitors went ahead in 10 minutes but Blair got back on level terms through Alan Cruickshan­k before Larkhall netted four more.

Scone Thistle, Luncarty and Coupar Angus were all away to North Region sides and all lost.

Scone, guests of Culter, were beaten 3-0, Keith Horne netting a hat-trick. Scone’s Fraser Mills missed a penalty when his side were 1-0 down.

Luncarty were away to Stonehaven.Their squad was depleted by injuries and they lost 3-0.

Coupar Angus had a fair number of trialists and were no match for Colony Park who won 10-1.

Arbroath Vics, at home to Cruden Bay, won 7-0. Striker Marc Walker was Vics’ scoring ace netting four times, Ewan Graham, Ryan Lewis and Garry Warren also scoring.

Brechin Vics met the Brechin City U/19 team who were 1-0 ahead at the interval. A second half comeback from Vics saw them win 4-1.

Montrose Roselea, at home to Dyce, lost 2-1. Ron Mitchell was the Roselea scorer.

Forfar West End, away to Cambuslang Rangers, lost 2-0.

Forfar Albion’s visitors, Douglas Amateurs, won 2-1 thanks to a last minute goal.
