More Dundonians using facilities

MORE Dundonians than ever are making use of public facilities in the city.

Figures just revealed show that there has been a hike in the number of people visiting city museums, swimming pools and community centres.

In the first three months of this year, there were 633 visitors to museums per 1,000 of the population compared to 604 the same period last year.

Meanwhile, 1,162 per 1000 people attended at local swimming pools compared to 1015 last year, while 761 per 1000 visited community centres compared to 713 last year.

The report before councillor­s stated: “Performanc­e for pool use continues to grow strongly, with a 14% increase compared to the previous year.

The same report also showed that teachers took 1.98 days sick leave during the first three months of the year — slightly up on the 1.92 days they took last year.

Accidents involving council employees were down from 43 to 35.
