Saltire Society’s line-up

KIRRIEMUIR branch of the Saltire Society has planned a winter programme to promote the talents of local artists.

The line-up will cover a variety of aspects of Scottish life, including a Thrums Up exhibition from December 9 to 11.

On Wednesday October 12 there i s an evening devoted to cycling.

This will feature a film called Dummy Jim. This centres on a deaf cyclist who toured Europe and went as far as the Arctic Circle in 1951.

There will also be a talk about the Flying Scot, a Scottish cycle brand.

The role of The Black Watch in the First World War will be outlined by Kirriemuir councillor Major Ronnie Proctor on Wednesday November 9.

Further events will also take place in the new year, including a Burns lunch, a lecture about the V&A in Dundee and a visit to the site.

All evening events are in Kirriemuir Parish Church hall at 7.30pm. Membership costs £30 for the season, or £5 per event.
