‘Community council is the way forward’

-

HOMEOWNERS in Dundee met on HM Frigate Unicorn to discuss pressing issues in their neighbourhood.

The meeting was organised in part by local representative Councillor Lynne Short after constituents made their views on community life known.

Community parking, the development of City Quay Marina, and maintenance of community grounds were all discussed by members of the new committee and local representatives present.

The safety of youths playing on the Unicorn itself was also mentioned as an issue the council should attempt to tackle. Ms Short said: “This is the kind of thing that has been really championed by the Scottish Government.

“We’re trying to make sure people can have a say in the places where they live. Giving people a say in how their communities are run has to be the way we go forward.”

Community members have until October 23 to nominate up to 10 community representatives.

The committee will meet again in November.
