Massive weekend lies in store for CCS Stars

-

DUNDEE CCS Stars hope to continue their fine run of form by taking six points from their three games this weekend.

Tonight they take on Braehead Clan in Renfrewshire hoping to build on their excellent two wins against Belfast Giants and Fife Flyers.

Tomorrow they return to Dundee Ice Arena for a meeting against Edinburgh Capitals (7pm). Stars then travel to Coventry for Sunday’s Elite League match against Blaze.

Clan have had a dismal start to the season and Stars go into the game as slight favourites.

Like Dundee, Edinburgh are also on a winning streak, having won their last four games.

Although Stars beat them 8-3 in their last meeting earlier this month, that result won’t stand for much this time round.

Sunday’s trip to Coventry brings them up against an inconsistent Blaze who have only picked up three points this season.

Led by former Fife Flyers’ assistant coach, Danny Stewart, they will be out to pick up both points.

Stars head coach Marc LeFebvre is under no illusions as to the task that lies ahead.

He said: “Clan have had a tough time but they are a talented side and coach Ryan Finnerty will turn them around.

“He’s a smart guy and will figure out what’s wrong with their game and they’ll be ready for us. I expect a tough match. However, we can clinch our spot in the next round of the Challenge Cup if we win in Braehead and that’s what we will set out to do.

‘Edinburgh have proven they are a tough team to beat and they come to us tomorrow on the back of four straight wins.

“We have the edge against them this season but that doesn’t mean anything.

“We will have to play for 60 minutes and stick to our game plan. They have a good goalie and also score goals so it will be another tough game.’”

He added: “Blaze will also be ready for us. They are a talented team and are capable of beating anyone in this league — but so are we.”
