Darren in Scotland’s World side
ARBROATH’S Darren Burnett has been selected to represent Team Scotland at this year’s World Championships in New Zealand.
He will play i n the men’s singles and also the triples with Ronnie Duncan and Iain McLean.
At this year’s World Indoor Bowls Championship, Darren won gold in the Open Pairs alongside Stewart Anderson and gold in the Mixed Pairs with Katherine Rednall.
At the Glasgow Commonwealth Games two years ago, he won a gold medal in the men’s singles after defeating Canada’s Ryan Bester.
He also won the 2014 World Indoor title at the Gravells Welsh International Open.
With memories of the 2014 Glasgow Games and hopes for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in two years, the squad will head to Christchurch in November to contest the championships. They are on from November 27-December 12.
