England job debate rumbles on

-

ENGLAND interim manager Gareth Southgate looks set to keep Wayne Rooney (above) as captain but debate over who should take on the job full-time continues.

Eddie Howe effectively ruled himself out of the running to replace Allardyce while Arsene Wenger stressed he intends to honour his Arsenal contract.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew believes the FA should do more to bring through potential England managers after admitting the role would be the “pinnacle of any Englishman’s career”. He said: “Myself, Eddie Howe, any English manager as far as I’m aware, has never been invited to England as a guest and I think we should be — otherwise how are we going to get experience?”
