ARBROATH Academy will host a special open evening for people interested in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Parents, carers and potential participan­ts are i nv i t e d to attend on Monday October 24 between 6.30pm and 8pm.

The event offers an opportunit­y f or young people aged 14 to 25 to become involved.

It is aimed at young people who didn’t get the chance to take part with their school or voluntary organisati­on.

There are three levels of Duke of Edinburgh Award — bronze, silver and gold.

Each level has four sections — volunteeri­ng, physical, skill and expedition — with gold also having a residentia­l section.

While there is a minimum time applied to gain the award, it is up to the individual to decide how long they take to complete it.
