Boy allegedly made threats with knife

- BY CONNOR MCCANN

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy allegedly threatened two young teenagers with knives on a Dundee street.

The boy — who cannot be named for legal reasons — allegedly brandished two knives at two boys aged 14 and 15, threatened to kill them and repeatedly struck a bus shelter with a knife.

He also allegedly repeatedly headbutted a bus shelter during the incident at Pitkerro Road.

At Dundee Sheriff Court, pictured, he denied two charges, one of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and a second of having two knives in a public place without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority.

Officers descended on a house in Pitkerro Road on Wednesday.

A large police presence was seen by residents in the area at around 4pm.

The accused appeared in court yesterday and was charged with assault when it is alleged he made threats with a knife.

Residents said there was a large police presence with more than six officers at the scene.

Peter Handy, 40, who lives nearby said: “Police were outside the house for about 15 minutes.

“One car turned up and I saw the officers speaking to two young men.

“It was just the one car at first but after a few minutes more of them appeared.

“I could see two cars and a van — they just turned up out of the blue.”

Another eyewitness said: “There were at least three police vehicles — a car, a Transit van and a dog van.

“The dog was taken out of the van and there were at least six police officers outside the house after the van arrived.

“There were some police in an alleyway behind the house too.

“The police were talking to two children outside the house.”

A spokeswoman for the force said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 16-year-old boy has been charged in connection with assault and a 16-year old boy has been charged in connection with a disturbance following an incident in Pitkerro Road, Dundee, on Wednesday.

“A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
