Kevin wants to head back

- By bARRy SMITH

AN ever-present in the team this season, Kevin Holt wants the Dundee fans to head home from Perth on Sunday on the back of a win against St Johnstone.

The big defender remembers the great support they took to the Fair City last season and is looking forward to a similar following at the weekend.

He said: “The fans travelled in their numbers last season, even though the weather was horrendous and the game was live on TV, too.

“Hopefully, it will be the same on Sunday and we can give them something to go back up the road with.”

In the three fixtures last season, Dundee didn’t taste defeat against the Saints and Kevin believes the players can take heart from that fact.

“We did well against St Johnstone last year and everyone is confident going into the game.

“On the back of our performance at Tynecastle, we can go there and try to get a result.

“I think it is just a case of getting that win and turning the performances into results, which we deserve. We’ll definitely be going there for a win.”

Saints lost to Killie last week but Holt has been impressed with their knack of going on unbeaten runs throughout the season.

“Consistency is the word that describes them best. They had a good run at the end of last season and into the start of this one.

“They look as if they are doing well and I think it was a bit of a smash and grab last week when Killie won.

“We know they have good players and having played against Chris Kane when he was at Dumbarton, I know how good he can be.”

St Johnstone have their own style but Kevin insists Dundee must focus on their own tactics.

“It’s about sticking to our gameplan and making sure we can get a result.

“If we try to play the way St Johnstone do it will be a hard game for us.”

At the moment ,the Dark Blues sit at the foot of the table but Holt doesn’t believe they will be there for long.

“We know being at the bottom of the table is not where we want to be.

“The league is so tight that one win can take you into the top six depending on other results.
