Hartley praises battler Gowser
DARK Blues boss Paul Hartley has paid tribute to Paul McGowan after the player tried to play through a groin problem in Saturday’s 1-0 victory at the SuperSeal Stadium
The midfielder eventually came off but through no choice of his own — something the manager admired.
“Paul (McGowan) hurt his groin but typical of him he didn’t want to come off,” said Hartley.
“We thought it would be better to lose him for 15 minutes rather than two to three weeks.”
The manager’s decision to take Gowser off has paid dividends as he was able to train yesterday and should be fit for another big game against Motherwell at home on Saturday.
Through the testing times Dundee have found themselves i n recently, McGowan has never been posted missing and has shown true commitment to the Dark Blues cause, so the news he is fit will be welcome.
It was also revealed Nicky Low has returned to training after an injection in his troublesome ankle, with both Bain and Gomis expected to be back for the weekend encounter, too.
This will come as a boost as the Dee try and climb the table after t he win on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the U/20s went down 2-1 to their Hearts counterparts last night.
The young Dee went in 0-0 at half-time but couldn’t hold out i n the second half.
They face Hibs on Sunday in the SFA Youth Cup at Dens (k/o 1pm).
