BOLLAN PROMISES TO STOP LOONS ROT

-

EDINBURGH City recorded their first win since joining the senior football ranks this season as they put League Two leaders Forfar out of the Scottish Cup.

The 1-0 home defeat has seen the Loons without a win in seven games.

This was the third meeting of the sides i n succession and familiarity did breed a degree of contempt in a flat affair in front of just 388 fans at Station Park.

However, Edinburgh’s Ross Allum broke t he deadlock in the 63rd minute.

Forfar threw everything at City as time ticked away.

Deep into stoppage-time, substitute Allan Smith should have rescued Forfar and taken the tie to extra-time.

In the clear at the back post as a ball was thumped into the box, he somehow steered his header wide of the post.

The loud boos from the Forfar support showed manager Gary Bollan just how quickly his side has to turn things around.

“It is a very sore one to take,” he said.

“It is massively disappointing, not just in terms of the result but parts of our performance also.

“Something is not right. They are a confident set of players and are good collectively.

“But there is something just not coming together and it is up to us to get it right and it has to be soon.

“We will get back to form — that will happen.”
