Concern grows for pastor

CONCERN is growing for the welfare of a Tayside pastor who has been missing for three days.

Peter Edwards from Scone was reported missing on Tuesday.

Police have confirmed that he was seen getting off a bus in Stonehaven later that day.

A spokeswoma­n f or Police Scotland said it was understood Mr Edwards arrived in Aberdeen around noon on Tuesday and then took the 2pm bus to Stonehaven, arriving in Barclay Street at 3.20pm.

Mr Edwards is described as 5ft 9in tall, balding with a grey beard and sideburns. He usually wears gold-rimmed glasses.

When last seen he was wearing a l ong-sleeved grey shirt, black tank top jumper, tie, grey trousers and black leather shoes.

He speaks with an American accent.

The Police Scotland spokeswoma­n said there was growing concern for Mr Edwards’ welfare.

She said officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen him or has any informatio­n on his whereabout­s.

“Officers are carrying out door-to-door inquiries and reviewing CCTV in an effort to trace Mr Edwards,” she added.

Mr Edwards is an associate pastor at the Perth Christian Fellowship church, which he helped found in the mid-1980s.

Senior pastor Mervyn Milne said that Mr Edwards was “well known and well liked” by everyone at the church, and the congregati­on was praying for his safe return.
