Anna Cobb was struck by the car on Dundee’s Balgarthno Road in August.

The five-year-old from Charleston broke her leg and needed to have four pins inserted and also a splint fitted during surgery.

Anna also had to use a wheelchair to get out and about while she recovered from her injuries.

Yesterday, Anna returned to Hillside Primary School for the first time since the accident, having had the cast removed — 10 weeks after the initial accident.

Her mum Nicole McGuire, 26, told the Tele that the youngster had recovered well.

But she added that Anna was still a bit “wobbly” after having a cast on for months.

She said: “It is great to see her back at school — it has been a long road but I’m glad that she is back on her feet. weeks, and if she is given the all-clear, the family will be able to put the ordeal behind them.

She said: “It will be good to put it all in the past because it was a horrible experience.

“I am just glad that everything has turned out OK because it could have been a lot worse.

“Hopefully after this next check-up it will be the last of it and we will be able to properly move on.”

Anna had been waiting to cross the road with her dad Michael, 29, one August evening when she ran out in front of a car.

Anna struck the side of the vehicle and was knocked to the ground.

The youngster was operated on the following day.

Michael told the Tele at the time that he was in “complete shock” but then realised things were not as bad as he feared when he heard Anna crying.

Neighbours assisted the pair and called emergency services.

The driver of the vehicle also stopped to make sure that Anna was OK.
