Broughty boss in an upbeat mood

- BY JUNICUS

BROUGHTY Athletic are on their travels this week when they head for Bo’ness in a Super League clash.

The Fed will be looking to get back to winning ways after two league defeats, both at home to Carnoustie and Camelon.

Despite these losses, manager Keith Gibson remains upbeat and is looking forward to the trip to Bo’ness.

He said: “It was disappointing to lose our most recent game against Camelon but, on a positive note, we created plenty chances. Unfortunately, we weren’t clinical enough in front of goal and paid the penalty.

“Bo’ness is never an easy place to go to but we won there l ast season and, hopefully, we can get back in the winning way again.”

James Collier and Brian Clark missed last week’s match and could again be doubtful. Kane Hester has been signed on loan from Arbroath until the end of the year.

Lochee United welcome league leaders Kelty Hearts to Thomson Park with the Bluebells looking to be the first side to inflict a league defeat on the Fifers.

Their record of 10 wins and a draw suggests George Shields’ side will have their work cut out. However, their Scottish Cup win over Hurlford shows the Bluebells are capable of beating anyone on their day.

They are unlikely to show many changes from the side that won at Newtongrange. Connor Birse is available agai.

The Scottish Cup Third Round draw sees Kirrie, Thornton, Luncarty, Violet, North End, Lochee United and Jeanfield at home and Hill of Beath, Lochgelly, Scone, Rosyth and Carnoustie away. Draw: Kirrie Thistle v Hill of Beath. Kilsyth Rangers v Lochgelly Albert. Penicuik Athletic v Scone Thistle. Thornton Hibs v Bonnyrigg. Luncarty v Rosyth. Violet v Glenafton. North End v Linlithgow Rose. Petershill v Carnoustie. Lochee United v Musselburgh. Jeanfield Swifts v Hermes. Ties to be played November 19.
