LeFebvre is confident his Stars will hit back

-

AFTER the disappointment of losing their two derby matches against Fife Flyers last weekend, Dundee CCS Stars are eager to get back to winning ways this weekend.

However, they face two of the league title favourites when Cardiff Devils come to Dundee Ice Arena tomorrow night for an Elite League match.

That’s followed by another home game on Sunday when Sheffield Steelers are the visitors. Face-off times are 7pm tomorrow and 6.30pm on Sunday.

Coach Marc LeFebvre was critical of his charges after the defeats against Fife and knows the task ahead of him in the two games.

However, the Canadian is confident that, after speaking with his players and the work they have put in during practice this week, they will be ready to take points from both games.

He said: “I said on Sunday I was unhappy with the way we gave away the points in both games against Fife.

“I got the guys together and showed them videos of the games and pointed out the mistakes we made.

“We scored our goals through hard work but then made errors that cost us. We must eliminate these mistakes.

“We controlled the games against Fife for the most part and made enough chances to win them.

“However, we lost and made errors at the back that cost us the points in the end.

“We don’t have the depth to turn off in games. We need to work hard for 60 minutes.

“One step at a time, though, but I know we have the ability to beat anyone as we have already shown this season — and the guys know what is required of them.

“Cardiff and Sheffield are two excellent teams who play hard, fourline ice hockey.

“Cardiff are playing in Edinburgh tonight, so I will go and watch that game — and we have watched videos of Sheffield this week, so we are prepared.

“It’s down to us, and the guys are looking forward to both games in front of our fans.”

Fife Flyers also face Cardiff Devils with the Welshmen visiting Fife Ice Arena on Sunday (6.30 pm).

Following their two wins against Stars last week, Flyers will be hoping to continue that winning streak.

Elsewhere, Dundee Comets will be hoping to add another two points to their SNL campaign when they make the trip west to Kilmarnock for the return leg of last week’s home encounter, which saw the Taysiders grab a 5-2 win.

The U/12s are in action in Edinburgh, with both the U/14s and U/16s travelling to North Ayr tomorrow.

Stars U/20s host Murrayfield at the DIA on Sunday afternoon (f/o 2.30pm).
