‘It is up to me keep my spot

- BY BARRY SMITH

CRAIG Wighton says it’s down to him and him alone whether he can keep his place in the Dundee first team.

After starting only his third league game of the season in the 1-0 win at Hamilton last week, the 19-year-old is desperate to stay in manager Paul Hartley’s plans this season.

The Scotland U/21 international knows it’s solid work on and off the park, though, that will see him blossom into a first-team regular.

Craig said: “It’s up to me to keep my place in the team.

The young striker also thinks they have given themselves a platform to work from and must continue the good work against Motherwell this weekend.

The ’ Well also gained a moraleboosting win against Ross County and Craig knows the Dee will have to keep up the hard work if they are to get a result.

“After the result l ast week, the confidence is high in the camp but Motherwell had a good result at the weekend, too.

“We are looking to build on that win and are confident we can get all three points.

“It hasn’t been great for the fans so far this season, so we want to put a performance on for them, too. “It should be a good game.” Dundee are still looking for their first home win of the season in the league but this fact isn’t entering the players thoughts.

“Once we get the first win at Dens, we
