- BY LINDSEY HAMILTON

A DUNDEE mum has been found dead in her city home, three years after her teenage daughter died in Magaluf.

Emergency services were called to the Larch Street home of Karen Duffy, 48, following her sudden death.

Officers said today there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Today, Karen’s sister Beverley Duffy said the family was devastated.

Beverley said: “We’re in a state of shock.

“The family has gone through so much and we need to be allowed to grieve.”

Karen’s daughter Nadine died aged 19 while she was working in Magaluf in 2013.

Nadine’s death came after her best friend Ricky Flynn was killed when he was struck by a car on the Kingsway in 2010 at the age of 16.

Ricky’s mum Alison, 52, and dad, Zab, 56, said they were shocked and very upset to have learned about Karen’s death. Alison said: “Karen has never recovered from Nadine’s death.

“Three years have passed so people think you are getting on fine, but it doesn’t work like that.

“Karen was i n such a state of shock after Nadine died and the grief just kept coming back and hitting her again and again.”

Zab said: “She was such a lovely lady and this is just so incredibly sad.”

One neighbour in Larch Street said they first became aware something was wrong on Saturday morning. Another neighbour who said she’d known Karen for a long time said she couldn’t believe what had happened.

She said: “Karen never got over Nadine’s death. It’s so sad.”

At the time of Nadine’s death, both Karen and Nadine’s sister Shelley told the Tele that Nadine struggled to recover from Ricky’s death.

Shelley was too upset to speak about her mum’s death.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We attended at Larch Street, Dundee, at 12pm on Saturday following the sudden death of a 48-year-old woman.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and as with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
