Paul plays down defender injury

-

DUNDEE defender Kevin Gomis has been given good news about his injury after being forced off in the win against Motherwell on Saturday.

Manager Paul Hartley confirmed today the injury isn’t as serious as first thought.

“Kevin is not as bad as we feared. He is still in a sling and will be assessed again today.”

The defender had been injured after a 60-yard run, which saw him up-ended at the edge of the Motherwell 18-yard box.

Central defender Kosta Gadzhalov completed the game but will miss training due to an injury picked up in the victory at Dens.

“Kosta took an ankle knock during the game and won’t be able to train this week,” added Paul.

The international break will give Gadzhalov the best chance to be fit for the next game in two weeks’ time against Rangers at Ibrox.

Also coming back into contention i s defender Mark O’Hara.

“Mark will train with the physio in the early part of the week with a view to get back into full training by the end of the week,” said Paul.

“Faissal El Bakhtaoui is a little bit behind him in his recovery, though, but the squad is getting stronger with players coming back.”

The international break would have maybe been seen as a bad thing with the Dark Blues having won their last two games but the few days off is allowing the squad to get back to full fitness.
