HOLT ‘ANTICIPATED CONTACT’ IN TACKLE
RANGERS midfielder Jason Holt admitted he “anticipated contact” when going down inside the box during Sunday’s draw with Ross County.
Holt was booked f or diving by referee Andrew Dallas after he went over the outstretched leg of County defender Marcus Fraser.
There appeared to be contact but t he f ormer Hearts player was noncommittal when asked whether he felt he should have had a penalty.
“I’m not sure,” he said. “I anticipated the contact, whether it came or not I can’t really remember, but I just got on with the game.”
Rangers were held 1-1 by the Ladbrokes Premiership bottom club despite taking an early lead through Clint Hill’s header.
The visitors squandered several chances on the break to extend their lead and Hill and central defensive partner Rob Kiernan got in each other’s way as Andrew Davies levelled with a free header.
The draw meant Rangers missed t he chance t o leapfrog Aberdeen back into second place, where they had gone the previous weekend thanks to a 3-0 victory over Kilmarnock.
Holt said: “We are really disappointed with how we went from really good last week to not so good this week.
“Getting t he goal so early was great and we had chances after that to go and get ourselves a cushion in the game but we obviously conceded, which was disappointing.”
