Owner given warning

Chris told to muzzle Dino after his pet was attacked

- BY LINDSEY HAMILTON

Chris Rae’s dog Dino was left with puncture wounds and needed veterinary treatment after being attacked by another pooch.

But the 41-year-old from Carnoustie said today that the local dog warden service had given him a warning, claiming that Dino was not blameless in the incident.

He told the Tele: “I can’t believe that I’ve been sent a letter saying that my dog was partly responsible.

“I intend to take the matter up with my local MP Stewart Hosie. I’m not prepared to ignore this.

“I have been given a warning and told to keep Dino muzzled and on a short lead in future.

“I don’t understand how my dog can end up badly injured but I still receive a warning.”

Chris previously told the Tele of the “awful” moment his dog suffered serious injuries in an on-street attack by another dog.

He said that he and three other men had wrestled to release Dino from the grip of the other dog — without success.

It was only when someone threw a bucket of water over both dogs that they separated.

Dino needed urgent treatment by a vet to treat a series of deep puncture wounds and cuts around his neck, throat and ears.

Chris — who has Becker muscular dystrophy, a progressive condition — was walking Dino at Monifieth’s waterfront when the attack happened in September.

He added: “Both dogs were on a lead but when my dog went over to the bigger dog it went for him.

“I think Dino may have growled but I had him well under control.”

Angus Council was asked to comment but hadn’t responded at the time of going to press.

A MAN who claimed his dog was mauled has been told he must keep his own pet muzzled and on a lead.
