Two taken to Ninewells Hospital after car smash
A MAN and a woman were taken to hospital after a two-car smash in Dundee.
The incident took place on the A92 Arbroath Road, between the Claypotts junction and Fairfield Road, at around 9.20pm yesterday.
One eyewitness said there were two ambulance crews in attendance and described seeing “flashing lights everywhere”.
The driver of a blue Toyota, a 69-year-old man, was taken to Ninewells Hospital by ambulance with neck and back pain.
The other person involved — a 55-year-old woman driving an orange Renault Clio, was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital with a neck injury.
One eyewitness said: “When I first pulled up there were two ambulances there — it was dark and there were lots of flashing lights.
“The police said that I couldn’t go any further down the road.
“There was one patrol car which had been used to block the road and an unmarked police car was there too.
“There were flashing blue lights everywhere.
“I could see someone being taken into the other ambulance on a stretcher.
“I could hear that the person was in pain.
“Both of the cars looked like they were in a pretty bad state — it was quite shocking to come across something like this as I was driving home.
“I j ust hope that everyone involved in the crash is going to be OK.”
A police spokeswoman confirmed officers attended the incident.
She said: “A woman was taken to Ninewells Hospital with a neck injury.
“A man was also taken to Ninewells Hospital with neck and back pain. There were no passengers involved.”
In a separate incident today, police officers were called to a crash near West Huntingtower, Perth.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland attended a road traffic collision involving a red Peugeot 107 and a red Kia Venga on the A85 at about 7.50am today.
“A woman sustained an injured knee in the incident and was treated at the scene.
“The vehicles will be recovered.” Police at the scene.
