Bell will be back for Utd at Morton

- BY TOM DUTHIE

Earlier this week both Cammy Bell and Luis Zwick were ordered to stay away from training after showing symptoms of a virus.

Now, t hough, t hey have returned to work and will be on the team bus that heads for Greenock in the morning.

“They’re healthy and ready to play, so that’s good news,” reported gaffer Ray McKinnon.

That means Bell will resume his duties after being rested to give Zwick game-time in last weekend’s Irn Bru cup success at Dunfermline.

Switching back to his regular No 1 will be one of the simpler selection decisions f or the manager to make.

In all he made eight changes for the cup win and the likes of Lewis Toshney, Blair Spittal, Cammy Smith and Nick van der Velden all showed up well.

And while most of those who were rested will return, it is likely there will be a couple of changes from the team that beat the Pars in the Championship earlier last week.

“I’ve got something to think about when it comes to picking the team and that’s a situation to be in,” said Ray.

United head west looking to extend their unbeaten run to 10 matches and make it eight wins in a row.

That would leave them two short of the best-ever winning run that saw Jim McLean’s championship-winning team finish the 1982/83 campaign with five wins to clinch the title, then start the next season with another five successes.

United will carry a large travelling support tomorrow and fans are urged to allow extra time for their journey because of the closure of the M74 near Hamilton over the weekend.

While that’s not on the direct route to Greenock, it’s anticipated it will mean heavierthan-normal traffic on the M8 and surrounding roads.

The Tangerines are still awaiting final confirmation on when their Irn Bru Cup semi-final at Queen of the South will take place.

It’s been pencilled February 18 or 19.

DUNDEE United will have their usual complement of goalkeepers on duty for tomorrow’s Championship game of the day at Morton.
