Keep dogs in fenced-off area of park

-

He is right to suggest more should be done about it.

The problem however is widespread over all parks and graveyards in Dundee.

During the summer I had relatives over from the USA and took them to Baxter Park.

None of them could believe the number of dogs, big and small, running around amongst children. Some dogs were growling and others were urinating at will.

In the USA all major city parks have fencedoff areas for dogs.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for the council to try something like that here?

Why not fence off the Arbroath Road end of Baxter Park and make sure dog wardens enforce the rules before eventually extending the scheme to all parks including Camperdown?

For those of us who don’t have a dog then it would lead to safer and healthier parks for us and our children.

I am a dog owner and I use Monymusk Park a lot to walk my dog.

If she does her business I make sure that it is picked up.

Yes, granted, I have seen the odd one or two deposits that have been left by some inconsiderate owners.

But surely the letter writer has to practise what he preaches?

On many occasions, especially on a Saturday and Sunday and after football games, I’ve noticed there is lots of rubbish — including used tape and plastic bottles — left behind by the players and the people watching games.

Why should we dog walkers be subjected to your rubbish?

YOUR recent correspondent highlighted the problem of dog fouling on football pitches in Dundee.
