Foodbank can hit bullseye with Gary’s help

-

WORLD darts champion Gary Anderson is joining forces with darts fans in Perth to help the needy.

Hundreds of spectators who will pack the Dewars Centre on Thursday December 8 for an exhibition match between Scots star Anderson and English rival James Wade are being asked to bring along a bag of groceries to donate to Perth and Kinross Foodbank. The organisation is part of a nationwide network, supported by the Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger.

It has foodbanks in Perth, Blairgowrie, Crieff and Pitlochry, and Christmas is one of the busiest periods.

Anderson, who will start the defence of his world title at the Alexandra Palace in London later next month, will be doing his bit by bringing along a bag, as will his opponent Wade.

The Scot said: “I’m really looking forward to coming back to Perth. It was here last December that my form picked up and set me up nicely for the World Championship.

“Fingers crossed it sets me on my way for the hat-trick of titles. The crowd last year was amazing. What a noise they made. What a great touch by the promoters to get the local foodbank involved as well. I’ll have a bag with me to donate.”

The VIP tickets for the clash have sold out but there are some standard tickets still available, costing £35. They can be bought from the Dewars Centre.
