Polonia players have to stick by team rules

“IF you don’t train, you don’t play”.

That’s the message from FC Polonia official Petr Vojtek after his side picked up a welcome three points with a 6-3 victory over Charlie Accies.

The Dundee Sunday Association outfit have a healthy squad of around 20 players but Petr insists there are strict rules in place when it comes to picking the team each Sunday.

“All the boys know the rules and, if you don’t turn up for training, you can forget about playing on a Sunday, regardless of what ability you have,” said Petr.

However, the club secretary, who also turns out for the team, was full of praise for his side following the weekend win, which saw them come back from two goals down at the interval.

Losing early goals has been a problem f or Polonia and it’s something the squad have talked about in the past.

On t his occasion, though, they bounced back to claim victory and Petr couldn’t have been happier.

“It is very difficult to win games in this league. There are some very tough teams. But we are very happy after Sunday’s win. The players were all great.

“I am proud to play for this club because we never give up.

“We now have confidence and self-belief and I think we will improve as the season goes on.

“I think we have been unlucky in previous games and have played some tough teams like Dundee Social and Tayport.

“But we need to keep fit and that is why it is important to train every week. Hopefully, we can finish the season in mid-table.”

That certainly shouldn’t be a problem if they can recapture the form shown against Charlie Accies.

Two goals behind at the break, Polonia came out a changed team for the second 45 and struck six times to run out comfortable winners.

Petr played his part, grabbing two of the goals, while Mihai Butnariu (2), Pawil Lamparski and Dawid Jopek were also on the mark.

Unfortunately, Polonia don’t get the chance to follow up the win as they have a free week this weekend.
