Dolan in debut for Comets

-

DUNDEE Comets will be looking for another win when North Ayr Wild visit the DIA tomorrow (7pm).

The Taysiders have been racking up the points and have second place in the SNL table firmly in their sights.

New signing John Dolan will be making his debut and wearing his traditional No 16 jersey when he takes to the ice for Comets.

The former Elite League forward, who hasn’t played competitively since the quarterfinal play-offs in March, said: “I’m really looking forward to turning out for Comets.

“They’re a pretty good bunch of guys and I’m hoping I can add a bit to their already-decent firepower.

“Sure, I maybe haven’t played for a while but I’ve been keeping fit over the summer months and playing roller hockey.”

DUNDEE Tigers set off on a run of away games on Sunday that will see them into 2017 when they travel to face Edinburgh Capitals in the Scottish National League (8.30pm).

The Tigers inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Capitals when the sides met back in September.

However, the late face-off in Edinburgh and the availability of Capitals Elite League Brits adds a different slant to the game.

Tigers defenceman Ian Carstairs said: “Murrayfield is a tough place to get a result.

“The Caps use the ice well and it suits their fast breaking game.

“It’s made more difficult for visiting teams when the face-off is late on a Sunday night and guys who get regular experience at Elite level drop down to ice for their SNL team. You can see that when you compare the Capitals’ home and away form this season.

“We’ve got to approach this match sensibly and be confident of our abilities”.

DUNDEE Stars U/16s play visitors Murrayfield tomorrow (f/o 5pm).

On Sunday, Stars U/10 cross-ice event sees teams from Murrayfield, Moray, Kilmarnock and North Ayr visit the DIA (games f/o 2.30pm).
