Fed blow as Mair is ruled out for season

-

BROUGHTY Athletic have been dealt a blow with the news that Jake Mair has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

The former Tayport midfielder suffered a dislocated shoulder last season but returned at the start of this campaign and played a prominent role in the early matches.

But the injury came back to haunt him in the 2-0 home win over Musselburgh when he fell awkwardly and dislocated the same shoulder.

Mair has now had it confirmed the i njury will require surgery early in the new year and this will keep him out of football for a minimum of six months, which is a big blow for both player and club.

Mair said: “To say I’m gutted is an understatement. Fingers crossed I’ll be back as quickly as possible. We’ve had a great start to the season. I played my part in getting the team near the top end of the league table but it’s now over to them to stay up there.”

WITH their scheduled game at Scone cancelled, Arbroath Vics welcomed an invitation to play Montrose Roselea in a friendly at Links Park.

The game got off to a quickfire start with Roselea taking a two-goal lead, one of which came via a Kyle Findlater own goal, which l eft Vics’ trialist keeper helpless.

Vics reduced the leeway in 15 minutes when Ryan Lewis snapped up a short passback to the Roselea keeper and hit it past him to make it 2-1.

However, a third Roselea goal in 78 minutes completed the scoring.
