Johnsen in fine form for Hearts

-

HEARTS striker Bjorn Johnsen insists he has hit form at the right time ahead of Wednesday’s Ladbrokes Premiership visit of Rangers.

The towering American netted a brace in Saturday’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Motherwell, doubling his tally for the season.

Jamie Walker completed the scoring as Robbie Neilson’s side returned to winning ways for the first time in five games.

Johnsen got t he nod ahead of Conor Sammon and Tony Watt at the weekend and the former Litex Lovech player i s hoping he has done enough to keep his place in the team for the eagerlyawaited visit of Gers.

The 25-year-old, who can help Hearts climb up to second on goal difference with victory on Wednesday, said: “I feel it’s the perfect moment to be playing like this with the Rangers game coming up.

“Hopefully, I can help get the same result or give the same performance I did.

“You want t o play i n those types of games as a player i n front of a full house.

“Rangers almost lost to Partick on Saturday, we watched it and it gave us a bit of energy to win the game because we knew they were pushing their luck in that match.

“They got their three points and we’re thinking we need to keep up with them. We came out firing.

“I think all of us can give Rangers problems. Jamie Walker i s playing really well, going forward I think we’d give any team in the league problems.”

Johnsen was delighted to play a starring role at the weekend after revealing that his family were watching on from the stands.

He added: “We got the win and I was delighted to get two goals, especially because my family were there.”
