Goes about it says Wilkie

-

October, Gadzhalov has started the last four matches — Dundee have won three of those four with the other a last-gasp loss to Rangers at Ibrox.

And he capped his recent good run with that winner on Saturday, a goal he most certainly enjoyed judging by his exuberant celebration.

The Bulgarian raced across more than half the pitch, leaving team-mates in his wake, to enjoy his moment.

With Dundee’s preferred system of three central defenders, Gadzhalov’s chances of being involved are obviously increased.

And with the extra game time, Wilkie believes the 27-year-old has the opportunity to improve and to help the Dark Blues continue their good recent run.

“He’s a player that can get better, too. He’s at a decent age where he can develop further.

“He’s got what most people say are his best years ahead of him as a centre-back.

“He’s also still adapting to a new country but it really seems like he’s found his feet at Dundee and is progressing really well, building up his confidence.”

With key fixtures coming up against Kilmarnock and Ross County over the next two weeks, that extra confidence can only help Dundee keep up their recent miserly defensive displays — two goals conceded in the last four — as they look to escape trouble at the bottom of the Premiership table.
