Lennon lines up Swanson move

-

CHAMPIONSHIP l eaders Hibs are lining up a move for St Johnstone winger Danny Swanson.

The 29-year-old former Dundee United man has been in fine form, scoring 11 goals already this season from midfield, seven from the penalty spot.

Hibs have been represented at almost every Saints game this season as they check on the performances of Swanson who is a Hibs fan.

His contract with Saints is due to finish at the end of the campaign and Hibs manager Neil Lennon is eyeing up a pre-contract move next month.

Swanson will be free to talk to other clubs with six months left of his current deal and has also interested teams down south.

Rotherham had shown interest i n the f ormerPeterborough midfielder before manager Kenny Jackett’s shock resignation.

Saints are in talks with Swanson over extending his deal, however they will be powerless to prevent him switching under freedom of contract.

It’s understood Lennon would like to bring i n Swanson i n the January transfer window to aid the Hibees promotion push but St Johnstone won’t entertain any bids for their star man.

Meanwhile, Hibs midfielder Marvin Bartley insists the Edinburgh men aren’t a one-man team.

Scotland i nternational John McGinn has spearheaded the Hibees season but will miss tomorrow night’s game at Dundee United after undergoing surgery on an injured ankle.

With Fraser Fyvie also struggling, Bartley looks set for a first start since October.

He said:“All the boys in the squad know we’re not reliant on any i ndividual player. Even McGinn would admit it’s a team game. We’re capable of a good run without him.”
