SAINTS TRIO IN LINE TO FACE INVERNESS

-

S T J O H N S TO N E trio Zander Clark, Joe Shaughnessy and Murray Davidson have recovered from knocks and are in line to face I nverness Caley Thistle at home tomorrow.

Keith Watson played 90 minutes of the Development League 2-0 loss against Hamilton as he continues his comeback from injury. He is unlikely to be risked against Inverness.

Saints manager Tommy Wright said:“We have to be cautious with Keith.”

Tommy is hopeful Danny Swanson will prolong the best spell of his career by staying in Perth.

The 29-year-old former Dundee United midfielder, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has netted 11 goals this season and has admitted he is in the form of his life.

His displays have reportedly attracted interest from Hibs but Wright will try to persuade Danny, who has also turned out f or Peterborough, Coventry and Hearts, his future is best served by staying at McDiarmid Park.

To m m y added: “I informed the club last April I wanted Danny t o be re-signed. Unfortunately, it hasn’t happened yet.

“I don’t want him t o leave, he’s our best player. I feel as though I get the best out of him.

“He’s had a torrid time at Hearts. Down in England it wasn’t great for him. His best spells of football have been with me and St Johnstone.

“So, hopefully, we are in the box seat and t hat should help us get him to re-sign.”
