Pressure not on us says Lennon

-

HIBS head coach Neil Lennon claims the pressure is mostly on Dundee United ahead of t o n i g h t ’s Ladbrokes Championship top-of-the-table clash.

Hibs travel to Tannadice three points clear of United, who were seven adrift after the first four matches of the season.

Lennon is looking forward to a top-two contest but feels it means more t o United.

The former Celtic and Bolton manager said: “It’s been a while since I have done it but there’s that anticipation it creates, and interest with the supporters. It creates a buzz.

“But we are not getting too involved with the hype of t he game. It’s been building up over the last couple of weeks.

“For me, it’s just another game. It’s not going to have a major i mpact on t he outcome of the season.

“However, I t hink t he pressure i s on Dundee United more than it is on us, because they have to keep in touch with us.

“If they win the game, if, then we are still top of the league probably on goal difference.

“But if we win then all of a sudden there’s a six-point gap.”

Lennon, who is without injured midfielders John McGinn and Fraser Fyvie, added: “We have been top of the league for quite a while now and that’s where we want to stay.”

IN other Championship news, Queen of the South have announced Gary Naysmith as t heir new manager.

The 38-year-old makes the move from East Fife, whom he steered to promotion to League One last season.

“I’m thrilled to be taking over at Queens. They are a decent-sized club with plenty of potential,” said the former Everton defender.

“I’ve l oved my time at East Fife and thank them for giving me the opportunity.”
