McKinnon — We need a couple in to keep going

He added: “I couldn’t fault the players for their effort — I thought we were excellent in the first half.

“Hibs made it difficult in the second but we were quite resilient, defended well and we’re obviously delighted with the three points.”

He also reserved special praise for the two men who stepped up at the vital moments — Bell for once again saving the Tangerines with his seventh penalty save of the season and Murray for his fine run, beating two men before being dragged down inside the area.

McKinnon said: “Cammy’s a fantastic goalkeeper, we were absolutely delighted to bring him in, I’ve said it before.

“He’s saved seven penalties this season, he’s outstanding.

“You don’t expect him to keep doing it and keep doing it — the law of averages are that they are going to score one but he has produced again.

“He’s a fantastic goalkeeper and we’re absolutely delighted to have him at this club.

“I was standing there thinking ‘there’s every chance he’ll save this’, he’s that good.

“Him and Simon have won the game for us — everyone’s won the game but in the two key parts of the game, he’s saved the penalty and we scored the penalty.

“That’s what it came down to in the end.

“Hibs are a good side so we’re absolutely delighted with the three points.”
