Holt urging Dee to find consistenc­y

KEVIN Holt was left disappoint­ed in his 50th league appearance for Dundee after they lost 2-0 to Kilmarnock at the weekend.

The big defender, though, is urging his team-mates to get back on track this Saturday by winning at home against Ross County.

“We will definitely be looking for three points on Saturday,” he said.

“You have to win your home games no matter who you are playing but especially the teams that are round about us in the league.”

The Dark Blues started the game in sixth position but, such is the league this season, after Saturday’s defeat they dropped to 10th.

With a tough festive fixture list on the way it would be easy to look at the games coming up but Kevin insists the Dee must concentrat­e solely on the next game against the Staggies.

“We just have to concentrat­e on next week,” he said.

“The table is so tight, you can’t afford to look a couple of games in advance.

“We just have to focus on each match as it comes and take it a game at a time.

“There are six or seven teams you could throw a blanket over, so we just have to concentrat­e on winning our next game.”

In recent weeks the Dens Park men have flitted from the bottom of the league to a top-six place and “Holty” thinks consistenc­y could be the key to getting themselves up the table.

“The league is week to week,” he explained. “Whoever can string a few results together and go on a wee run can put themselves into the top six. “You just need to be consistent.” Since the change in formation to a back three, the defender has seen himself a regular in the team, whether it be at centre-back or in his preferred role as a left wing-back.

Having signed from Queen of the South where he played as a wing-back he knows only too well what is expected of him and what his priorities are in that position.
