Bain display gets praise from boss

-

DUNDEE boss Paul Hartley has praised Scott Bain following t he keeper’s performance at Kilmarnock.

While the manager wasn’t happy with the loss and the general display of his team, he couldn’t point the finger at his goalie.

The former Alloa Athletic man did his utmost to keep the Dark Blues in the game, although, ultimately, his efforts proved in vain.

“He produced some great saves but that’s what he is there for,” said Paul. “We know he is capable of that.”

Bain was one of the few shining lights in a belowpar performance at Rugby Park which the Dee will try to rectify against Ross County this weekend.

Meanwhile, Paul McGowan picked up his sixth booking of the season, meaning he will miss the upcoming Celtic game on December 17.

The midfielder collected a yellow card late in the game at Killie for a shirt pull on Souleymane Coulibaly.

McGowan’s absence will be a blow for the Dee, with Gowser being a major driving force in the centre of the park.

It will be hoped Mark O’Hara has returned from injury i n ti me t o be a contender for McGowan’s midfield berth.

The former Killie man has been out for over a month now with a hernia problem and has suffered a couple of setbacks as he tries to return to the first-team fold.

O’Hara started the season in good form and the possibility of him making it back i nto the squad could prove timely, given McGowan’s suspension.

Dundee’s U/20 squad travel t o play Rangers tomorrow in the development league.

The game will be played at Forthbank Stadium in Stirling with a 6pm kick-off.

The young Dark Blues are unbeaten in their last three league games.
