effect and I’m in no doubt that what’s going on down at the Waterfront is encouraging interest in Dundee that might not otherwise be there.

“We’ve recently looked at more than 100 project ideas which have come to us.

“We have narrowed that down to a short list that we hope we will be in a position to begin work on by December 2018.”

At the gathering, Dundee Waterfront project director Allan Watt said he was hopeful that the project would also continue to bring investment and employment to Dundee.

He said: “I also want to make sure that young people coming through the city are trained for all the opportunities that will be coming Dundee’s way.

“There are fantastic opportunities right around the corner for Dundee and we want to be in a position to make the most of these.

“We are confident that there will be enough parking in the city for the increased visitor numbers but if that turns out not to be the case we will look again at the situation.”

Mr Watt and Mr Galloway said they were also aware of concerns over the ability of the Swallow roundabout beside the Double Tree Hilton to cope with increased traffic coming into the city and Mr Galloway said they had looked at proposals to rethink that area.

Mr Galloway said: “We don’t yet know how that could develop but it may be we have to look at that.”
