Stars coach demands a huge improvement

-

DUNDEE CCS Stars will be looking to put their midweek cup defeat against Cardiff Devils behind them as they get back to league duty this weekend.

The Taysiders travel to Coventry for an Elite League meeting with Blaze tomorrow, before returning to Dundee Ice Arena on Sunday to face Braehead at home for the second time in a week.

Coach Marc LeFebvre was unhappy with a couple of his players’ performances on Wednesday and will be looking for a huge improvement.

Coventry have had a poor run of form but bounced back with an impressive 6-2 win over Manchester Storm last Sunday.

Clan lost to Stars on their own ice last Saturday but bounced back to defeat Dundee in DIA the following night.

Both teams sit behind Stars in the Elite League table, so four points would open a wider gap between the clubs.

LeFebvre said: “We have got to wipe Wednesday’s game from the memory and concentrate on getting full points from our two games this weekend.

“I had a word with the guys after the defeat against Cardiff and left them in no doubt what is expected from them every game.

“We’ve worked hard in practice and now we have to show it on the ice.”

When asked if any of the injured players would return for the games, LeFebvre added: ‘It’s a case of monitoring them daily.

“They are responding well but we’ll give them every chance to get fit and take it from there. We need everyone to be focused.”

Fife Flyers, fresh from their 3-2 win over Belfast Giants last weekend, have a home game against Manchester Storm tomorrow at Fife Ice Arena and follow that with a visit to Murrayfield on Sunday to play Edinburgh Capitals.

Both matches are in the Gardiner Conference. Face-off on Saturday in Kirkcaldy is at 7.15 pm.

Flyers are still nursing injury doubts over Ryan Dingle, Justin Fox and Shayne Stockton.
