Dundee have to cross out County threat

- By BARRy SMITH

DUNDEE goalkeeper Scott Bain expects a difficult encounter tomorrow as the Dee look to entertain Ross County at Dens Park and has emphasised the need for hard work first.

He’s also stressed the importance of denying the Staggies strikers any ammunition by cutting off cross balls into the box.

Bain said: “They’re tough and physical but also have a lot of good players.

“The two strikers put themselves about, so it is going to be a game of hard graft first then, hopefully, the wee bit of quality we have will win the game.

“We know from playing against them at the start of the season they have wide players that are tricky.

“If we can stop crosses into the box and try to limit the supply to the strikers, then it will help us massively.

“We have done well defensively as a team recently.”

The Dingwall side head down the A9 looking to continue their own mini-revival, having gone unbeaten in four games but Bainy remains confident the Dark Blues can win.

“Ross County are similar to us in that they haven’t quite reached the potential they should have but we will go in to the game confident we can take all three points,” said the keeper.

The recent change of formation has brought a transformation in Dundee’s fortunes and the 25-year-old admits they have found a way to win games, even if it’s not pretty.

“We’ve changed our style and found a way to win and the boys have bought into it.

“The way we play suits us and we can get results.

“Sometimes it’s not pretty but it gets the job done.

“It doesn’t matter how you get the win as long as you get it.

“When you are down at the bottom that’s what you have to do.”

A major threat to Dundee tomorrow may be Liam Boyce, who scored in the last three games for County.

The former Alloa man is well aware of the threat of Boyce but won’t put all his focus on shutting only him out.
