Leaders suffer a Newburgh shock

SHOCK of the day in the North League was Newburgh’s 3-0 defeat of leaders Kinnoull at East Shore Park.

Dillan Duddy, who’d earlier seen his penalty saved, Gavin Thomson and Steve Harris scored.

To compound a bad day for the visitors, Gordon Norrie was red-carded in the last minute.

A draw was probably the right result at Memorial Park where second-placed Thornton were held 1-1 by Luncarty.

An own goal by Bleachers’ goalie Jordan Kinnon after 11 minutes gave Hibs the lead but, 11 minutes, later Richard Donavan levelled.

Kirrie Thistle’s 4-2 win over Harp at Westview hoisted them to the top of the table.

Harp made them work hard for it, twice going ahead through Graeme Allan and Paul Blackwood. Bryan Duell scored all four of Kirrie’s goals. Blairgowri­e were guests of North End. Even although Blair’s Mark Brash was sent off, Alan Cruickshan­k scored a stoppage time equaliser for the visitors after Gary Sutherland had given the Dokens the lead 10 minutes from time.

Scone Thistle ran out 6-2 winners at home to Forfar Albion. Abi Njie netted four times with Fraser Mills netting the other two.

Albion’s Ross McLeary twice reduced the leeway, the second coming from the penalty spot.

Arbroath Vics lost 4-2 at home to Coupar Angus. Mark Walker and Lloyd Hester netted for the home side and the Coupar Angus goals came from Chris Livesedge (3) and John Miller

Brechin Vics lost 6-0 at home to East Craigie. Sean Reekie (2), Ranald Bowie, Liam McArtney, Nik Mann and Lee Maloney were on target for the Dundee side.
