Captain backs Tottenham duo

-

KYLE Walker and Danny Rose can strike a deadly partnership for both Tottenham and England for many years to come, according to Hugo Lloris.

Rose capped an outstanding display with the winning goal as Spurs beat Burnley 2-1 on Sunday after Walker had earlier set up Dele Alli’s equaliser.

It means the two fullbacks have either scored or assisted eight of Tottenham’s 29 Premier League goals this season.

They have also contributed to the team’s mean defence, which has conceded only 12 times in 17 games — the second best total in the division.

Rose and Walker were Roy Hodgson’s first-choice picks for England at Euro 2016 last summer and Mauricio Pochettino has put great faith in the pair this term, t wice even playing three at the back to afford them greater freedom going forward.

Lloris feels the duo can be a great asset over the next few years for both club and country.

“They can be important for Tottenham and for the England national t eam, too,” said Spurs captain and keeper Lloris.

“They are still young. There are still some good players in front of them but, if they keep working hard, I would not be surprised if they had a great i nternational career and they will help the club achieve great things as well.

“I feel t hey are very committed to the team. They have been in the club for a while and you can see that on the pitch.”
