School has made progress

-

TEACHERS, staff, pupils and parents at Tayport Primary School have been celebrating a significantly improved school inspection report.

Following on from the last report in December 2015, Education Scotland visited again in November to find out how the school has fared since then.

Inspectors noted that the school has improved significantly in a number of key areas, particularly in arrangements for learning and teaching and for m a n a g i n g c h i l d r e n ’s behaviour.

Nursery staff continue to provide i nteresting experiences which help to meet children’s varied needs, i ncluding when outdoors, while the school has similarly i mproved its approaches to literacy, numeracy, health and wellbeing as well as other aspects of the curriculum.

Inspectors also concluded that staff are committed to working together to improve learning and teaching and are positive about the changes that have been made since the last inspection.

Head teacher Jane Holmes said: “I am delighted that the good work that has been achieved, particularly in the past year, has resulted in this positive report.

“Our staff, our children and our parents have all worked together to achieve this — it is very much a team effort.

“Our staff team recognises the good work that has been achieved over the past year and is dedicated to ensuring it continues.”

Local councillors Maggie Taylor and Tim Brett also expressed their delight at the report.
