Another loss for Flyers

-

IN Braehead on Friday, Fife Flyers suffered a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Clan to continue their losing streak.

Clan took the lead after seven minutes with a counter from Bari McKenzie and that proved to be the only goal of the first period.

Scott Aarssen doubled the home side’s lead after 25 minutes and, although both sides had powerplay opportunities in the second session, the teams entered the third stanza with Braehead ahead 2-0.

Brendan Brooks brought Fife back into the game in 44 minutes with goal from close range.

In 48 minutes, they were on level terms with a powerplay goal from Carlo Finucci with Clan’s Hammond sitting out a two-minute minor for too many men.

Just seconds later, though, Clan were back in front when Alex Leavitt struck for a 3-2 lead and three minutes later Matt Keith made it 4-2.

Cody Carlson was awarded two minutes for charging and two minutes for roughing in 56 minutes, leaving Flyers on a fourminute powerplay.

They pulled goalie Shane Owen for a six on four and Matt Sisca pulled a goal back with just over a minute remaining.

Although Flyers pressed for the equalising goal, Clan held out for a 4-3 win and full points.

Flyers will be out to grab a win tonight when they take on Edinburgh Capitals in a league and Gardiner Conference fixture in Kirkcaldy.

With Philippe Paquet, Sebastien Thinel, Chase Schaber and Shayne Stockton all missing the game against Clan on Friday, they will be hoping that one or more will return to the roster tonight (6pm).
