County upbeat says McEveley
JAY McEveley insists Ross County can get a result at Celtic Park tonight despite a disappointing build-up.
County saw their sixmatch unbeaten run come to an end with a 3-1 home defeat to Partick Thistle on Friday night.
They lost 4-0 at home to a much-changed Celtic team in October but were in the game until the final stages and Staggies defender McEveley is convinced they can take something from the runaway Ladbrokes Premiership leaders.
“It was a tight game until the 84th or 85th minute and then they scored three goals in quick succession,” he said of the previous meeting.
“We have a game plan and we will see where it takes us.
“Partick went there a week ago — they had a few chances, and it was only 1-0. It can be done, we will try to get a positive result.”
County had taken points off the likes of Rangers, St Johnstone, Hearts and Aberdeen before coming unstuck against Thistle.
McEveley said: “We can’t be too downbeat when we lose a game, we have to pick ourselves up and go again. It would have been nice to go there with a positive result behind us but it wasn’t to be.
“You can maybe l ook back on this result in a few weeks and it could be forgotten about because we could put a string of results together again and move up the table — that’s how this league is.
“F o r t u n a t e ly, r e s u l t s went our way and we’ve stayed in sixth position.”
