Cops seize ‘controlled drugs’ in raid on home
POLICE with sniffer dogs carried out a raid on a Dundee home — and recovered a package believed to be controlled drugs.
Five police vehicles, including a dogs unit, descended on Finella Terrace in the Fintry area of the city.
Officers said today they were continuing to make inquiries into the find.
Police dogs were seen sniffing outside multiple addresses in the street.
Officers were also seen taking plastic packages out from one house and looking underneath cars parked in the street.
One eyewitness, who did not want to be named, said he had seen at least five police units outside the property at about 9.40am on Wednesday.
He said: “First of all, I looked out and saw a big police jeep outside.
“Then there were more cars and vans — including a dog unit.
“There were sniffer dogs going around all the houses.
“It was shocking to see because it is normally quiet around here.
“I saw them taking some stuff out of the house and putting it into one of the cars.”
He added: “There were a few break-ins around three months ago.
“I had initially thought that it was something along those lines that was happening.”
Another witness said she had come home and found the road blocked by police units.
She said: “It was a bit of a shock to see it going on outside your house. They had a dog going around all of the houses too.
“I asked the police what was going on but they wouldn’t tell me.
“They were there for a while because I went away and came back and they were still here.
“It is a bit scary to come home to find all that going on.
“Most of the police officers left but two stayed behind and were standing outside the house holding plastic bags.
“I haven’t seen anything like it here before.”
A spokeswoman for the force told the Tele: “Police Scotland attended at Finella Terrace, Dundee, at about 9.40am on Wednesday and recovered an item suspected to be controlled drugs.
“Officers are making inquiries into the matter.”
