Evening Telegraph (First Edition)

A happy news year!

- By BryAn CopLAnD

We used state-of-the-art technology to print personalised mastheads featuring individual names to wish readers a Merry Christmas.

Now we’re giving people the chance to get their hands on another customised copy of the newspaper.

Tomorrow’s Weekend Telegraph will carry a special masthead, wishing every reader a Happy New Year.

Every single copy will also carry a name — meaning you can pick up a Tele which is unique to you.

We will print dozens of the most popular readers’ names from across Dundee, Tayside and Fife.

And even if you can’t find your own name, you can still collect a copy which wishes you, our “loyal customer”, best wishes for 2017.

The response to last year’s Christmas initiative was phenomenal.

Tele editor Steven Bell said: “We had a fantastic response to our Merry Christmas custom mastheads last year, so we thought we would replicate it for Hogmanay this year.

“The technology we have now is remarkable — it allows us to print something different on every individual copy of the Tele, even though thousands come off our printing press.

“Judges at the Scottish Press Awards were so impressed with what we did last year that we won the Innovation of the Year Award in April.

“The Tele is leading the industry with this and it’s wonderful to know that our readers agree, after snapping up last year’s customised copies in their droves.

“We can’t wait to see the results tomorrow, and we know that people will love to get involved once again.

“The paper will have its usual great mix of local news, sport and features to give you plenty of reading right up to the bells. We hope all our readers have a very happy 2017.”

IT was the award-winning innovation which helped to spread some festive cheer among Tele readers in 2015.
