Awards deadline looming
THE deadline for nominations i s l ooming i n the Visual Artist and Craft Maker Awards: Dundee.
The event, which is run by Leisure and Culture Dundee i n partnership with Creative Scotland, encourages artists to live and work in the City of Discovery.
A spokesman for Leisure and Culture said: “The Visual Artist and Craft Maker Awards were established to help support Dundee-based visual artists and craft practitioners in their creative and professional development.
“The awards are intended to encourage artists to live and work in Dundee and to ensure that the arts play a vital and l asting role i n the city.
“There are two strands of funding.”
The spokesman said the scheme offers grants to individual applicants toward the costs in developing new work.
Awards of between £500 and £1,500 are available.
The spokesman added: “This scheme is open to both visual artists and craft makers.
“Two awards will be made annually, with the successful applicants each being supported by a mentor to develop their creative practice.”
The spokesman added that the recipients will both receive a bursary award of £1,500.
The awards nomination process closes at 5pm on Friday.
