Narrow Fife win in capital

-

FIFE Flyers travelled to Edinburgh last night still missing injured pair Ryan Dingle and Riki Jackman for their game against Capitals.

The home side had the bulk of the pressure in the first period but couldn’t convert their chances as the period ended with the teams level at 0-0.

Flyers took the lead two minutes after the restart when Matt Sisca, Russ Moyer and Bryan Cameron combined for the former to hit the net for a 1-0 lead.

On 33 minutes, Capitals’ Michal Dobron was given a match penalty for slew footing, leaving Fife on a five-minute powerplay and they took advantage as Fox struck a second goal.

Edinburgh pulled a goal back on 34 minutes with a five on three powerplay goal from Ian Schultz with Fife’s Sisca and Chase Schaber sitting out two minute minors.

Twenty-nine seconds into the final period, the visitors added a third goal when Brookes found Schaber from behind the net and he slid the puck in from close range.

With five minutes remaining, Schultz grabbed his second counter of the night with a fine solo effort.

However, Fife’s response was immediate and, less than one minute later, Carlo Finucci unleashed a shot that flew high past Fullerton into the Capitals net to restore the Kirkcaldy side’s two-goal advantage.

Edinburgh pulled goalie Fullerton in favour of the extra skater and, with 38 eight seconds left, they brought the game back to 4-3 through Pavel Vorobyev.

Fife saw out the game to record a 4-3 win.
